The Denver Botanic Gardens is a great place to spend the day soaking up nature. The grounds are filled with beautiful flowers and a variety of different themed gardens.

Theme Gardens
If you’re looking for a place to relax, enjoy nature, or learn about the world around you, Denver Botanic Gardens is a great option. Its 23-acre park, located in the Cheesman Park neighborhood of Denver, has a conservatory, various theme gardens, and a sunken amphitheater that hosts concerts in summer.
The Gardens also have a special exhibit, Seeing Red, which features artwork by the students and faculty of Denver Botanic Gardens’ School of Botanical Art and Illustration that celebrates the vibrant colors found in plants and fungi.
Another favorite is the Dryland Mesa, which is inspired by the 7 Principles of Xeriscape, a sustainable landscaping philosophy that seeks to use drought-tolerant plants from arid West and Mediterranean regions to create healthy, beautiful landscapes.
The Gardens also host a number of special events throughout the year. In October, we recommend checking out Glow at the Gardens – an annual event featuring hundreds of carved pumpkins and other Halloween decorations on display. Tickets to Glow at the Gardens sell out every year so get yours soon!
The Monet Pool
If you are looking for a place to take a break and enjoy some calming natural beauty, the Denver Botanic Gardens is the place to go. Located in the tree-lined Cheesman Park neighborhood, this 24-acre campus is a beautiful oasis of cultivated gardens.
The Monet Pool is the largest of the water gardens at Denver Botanic Gardens and is brimming with stunning hardy and tropical water lilies. It is also home to the Hive Garden Bistro where you can grab a bite to eat while taking in the garden’s incredible view.
A garden is also an excellent place for kids as they can play and learn while being entertained by the amazing water garden. Peak bloom is from June through September and an annual water blossom festival takes place in early August. Browse around this site to check more places to visit.
The Hive Garden Bistro
The Hive Garden Bistro is a new alfresco dining option at Denver Botanic Gardens, replacing the Monet Cafe. It features a larger deck and more menu options.
The airy eatery is open Apr–Sep and serves burgers, sandwiches & salads with local ingredients when possible. Guests can enjoy a coffee bar, fresh brewed iced teas, and agua frescas.
It is a really pleasant place to eat, but it can get pretty crowded during the summer months. I recommend getting a reservation or going during off-peak times.
During the day, a full breakfast menu is available including pastries, omelets, and wraps, with an assortment of vegetarian and vegan items. For lunch, you can choose from a variety of salads, sandwiches, and wraps, all made with local ingredients when possible, reflecting the Gardens’ core value of sustainability.
The Hive is a wonderful spot for tourists who are in the mood for some good food and an interesting view of the flowers and plants. It is also a great place for families with children to go, especially during the summer.
The Conservatory
The Conservatory at Denver Botanic Gardens is an enchanting place to spend a day. This beautiful space is filled with thousands of different plants from all over the world and is also home to a number of fascinating exhibits and sculptures.
While there are two main locations to visit, the York Street campus in downtown Denver and Chatfield Farms south of the city, both of them offer something truly special. Both have lots of activities for kids throughout the year, and both are great ways to spend an afternoon.
The 23-acre garden on York Street features a variety of themed gardens, including ones that depict plant life from around the world. It is also home to the Boettcher Memorial Tropical Conservatory, which showcases lowland tropical rainforest plants. Click here for more interesting articles.
